McDonald & Ross was contracted by BC Hydro for the removal of the old bridge at the Buntzen Lake Pumphouse service road in Port Moody and for the installation of a new bridge.
The project required environmental protection measures such as:
• Installation of silt fencing
• brushing out workspace on either side of proposed bridge
• removal of old bridge structure and disposal of materials off site
• excavation to remove old lock blocks
• dewatering measures to control water level in creek (usage of pumps and generators),
• preparation of base for new headwalls using clear crush gravel and compactors
• setting of base slab and building new lock block headwalls
• installation of new bridge deck and anchor in place
• finishing wing walls with old lock blocks
• backfilling and compacting approaches
• completing bridge decking, rails and fencing
• re-grading of access road
• work site clean-up.
