McDonald & Ross Const. Ltd. was contracted by FortisBC for the Elk River 1 Remediation Project. This project was located in Sparwood, BC. The project had to be accessed on both sides of the Elk River requiring the project to be divided into 2 parts: the Eastern Half and the Western Half and required access to the site through the Teck Resources Ltd. mine site. The project required coordination with Teck Resources Ltd. and FortisBC as well as working within the fisheries window. The project involved: "Eastern Half", mobilization to site, diversion of as much water flow as possible to mine site, construction of channel, stockpiling of rock, construction of sedimentation pond, close off flow to mine side, mobilization of dewatering equipment, excavation and riffle installation, demobilization of all dewatering equipment; installation of rip rap, clean up of site; On the "Western Half" of the Elk River the project included coordination with Remcan Projects Ltd. for the installation at the CP Crossing, stockpiling of rock on site, mobilization to site, construction of sediment pond, filling mega bags with import sand, mobilization of dewatering equipment; construction of Dam 1, fish salvage, construction of Dam 2, installation of sump pumps, construction of Dam 3, excavation and installation of riffle, installation of bank riprap, removal of all mega bags and dewatering equipment, site clean-up and demobilization
