McDonald & Ross Const. Ltd. was contracted by Kinder Morgan (Trans Mountain) Inc. to
increase the depth of the cover over the existing pipeline to protect the existing exposed 24” steel pipeline.
The work performed by McDonald & Ross included by-pass and de-watering of the channel including fish salvage, stripping of banks and excavation of material, installation of pre-cast swamp weights over the pipeline to a maximum elevation increase of 0.3m., removal of an existing concrete casing from the pipeline, re-grading of banks at 2H: 1V, installation and replacement of riprap bank and channel bed armoring, construction of an instream boulder cluster between the pipeline and an existing downstream boulder cluster, backfilling and re-planting of the riprap slopes with native live-stakes above the average high water mark and re-seeding of all disturbed areas, restoration and site cleanup and restoration work as required.
