McDonald & Ross Const. Ltd. worked on the Savona Pipeline Project constructing and installing 3.3km of 20" transmission line. We used Cat 572E and 583 sidebooms, heavy duty 06-20 hydraulic pipe bending machine, pneumatic internal bending mandrel complete with reach rod and control ends. This was an extremely sensitive project with an unstable hot line immediately adjacent to a new running line which had to be carved out of very steep terrain. An extra right of way was necessary to make room for material and access through the neighouring ranches. We successfully negotiated the extra space with the various owners without any extra costs to BC Gas. This was an environmentally sensitive project due to requirements of restoration of ranch land and of natural habitat. The project included a stream crossing at Tunkwa Lake Road. Backfilling of coulees required water-flow restoration elements. The right of way did not involve any tree work, however, due to desert conditions a new right of way had to be constructed in precipitous areas.
