McDonald & Ross Const. Ltd. was contracted by Kinder Morgan Canada, Inc. for remedial work at Swift Creek, Valemount, BC. The work included channel isolation, bypass pumping and work site dewatering as well as salvaging of existing riprap and boulder/removal and disposal of excess fill, existing concrete weights and steel half-sections of pipe on pipeline. In-stream pipeline exposure and cleaning, preparation of pipe (sandblast) and re-coat with specified coating material. Back filling and compacting soils beneath pipeline and swamp weights. Installation of precast lock-block type anchors and anchor cables. Installation of riprap within the stream channel and boulders and boulder cluster along streambed. Backfill interstitial spaces of riprap with in-situ river gravels or imported birds-eye gravel. Bank grading and placement of riprap armour. Supply and install large woody debris along right bank. Remove stream isolation and dewatering materials and equipment. Clean up, ground restoration to pre-construction contours and road conditions and replace topsoil.
